It is amazing how so many things such as termite damage and infestation can go unnoticed for so long. Many times homeowners are in disbelief when we tell them that there is an issue with wood destroying insects until we show them.
They usually respond with “I can’t believe this has been going on in my house” or “I’ve been doing my own inspections and preventative treatments for years”. The problem is that although they had the best intentions, they simply did not know what to look for or how to properly inspect for termites.
An inspection is not just walking around with a flashlight in the basement. It requires carefully probing all the framing members with a tool, sounding and loooking for the telltale signs of an infestation. The skill to do this comes with experience and training.
During a WDIR with TNT you can be sure that the inspector is not only New Jersey licensed for termites (7B), but has also gone above and beyond by becoming one of the few inspectors to obtain certification as an NPMA Credentialed Wood Destroying Insect Inspector.
